Welcome to The Lutheran Orthodox Church – Diocese of Virginia

The Lutheran Orthodox Church (LOC) is a Lutheran Church in valid and historic Apostolic Succession. We hold ourselves very close to the traditions of Martin Luther and his early followers, and consider ourselves a Lutheran denomination in the Evangelical Catholic tradition, celebrating traditional Catholic observances and feasts.

We celebrate two Sacraments; Baptism and the Eucharist (Holy Communion). We also recognize five Sacramental Rites; Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders (Ordination), Extreme Unction (Anointing of the Sick), and Penance (Reconciliation).

Our services follow a prescribed format - an easy-to-follow liturgy, hymns, a short homily, and the celebration of Holy Communion. Our Ministers usually wear formal vestments during services.

All believers are welcome to our services and we hope you will find our congregations open and friendly, and our services refreshing and spiritually uplifting. Anyone who is baptized and believes in Our Lord Jesus Christ is invited to participate in the Lord’s Supper.

Again - Welcome! We invite you to browse our website, and please come back and visit us - regularly.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,
